Pete and Sara live about six blocks away from Rocky Arbor State Park in Wisconsin. I saw on the news this evening that the State Park has been closed due to being overrun by gypsy moths.

Maybe it's a sign by God - like locusts that summertime in the dells is an evil place. Full of overpriced waterparks and dime a dozen t-shirt shops. Of course, Pete and sara technically live in Lyndon Station so they aren't part of the evil.

I've been to Rocky Arbor State Park. In the news story, several families are losing their ability to camp there and are being offered to move to either Devil's Lake or Mirror Lake, which actually for them is a blessing in disguise. Although Devil's Lake tends to be a bit overrun by tourists in the summer, both State Parks are hundred times more interesting than Rocky Arbor in my opinion.

They claim that they will not use pesticides to kill these moths but rather just let them develop and fly away. Both a good scenario as I'm sure it wouldn't be good for the baby to be around a large amount of toxic pesticide while growing her last month or so in Sara's womb but also sort of sad for the possible destruction to the trees in our yard.

Back in the early 1970's my grandfather planted a few hundred trees in our yard. In the late 1990's Pete accidentally set the garage on fire and subsequently we lost a large amount of the forest around our property. (Really long family story there.)

Anyhow, these gypsy moths apparently can destroy and eat leaves from trees. It will be sad if they do end of destroying what's left of the forest.
