RNC: Day 3

So outside of work today was a group of people in orange jumpsuits with black shrouds over their heads and signs.  Very organized, non-threatening but very visible.  On the other side of the "park" that is our plaza was a guy with a guitar and an amplifier in a wagon and he was singing country music.  He was pretty decent.  Kind of a yin and yang of protesting or was it really?  Both are a performance of sorts, it's just one is rather startling.

What I just don't understand is why people think that their messages can be heard with violence.  Again the news was filled with more stories of violence and unruly crowds.  If you have a message that isn't in line with the rest of your community thinks - which works better - breaking windows or throwing balloons of urine or sharing the message in a more genuine way?  Is the idea to shock the world into acceptance or is there not a thought behind the whole process?

I for one will be glad when tomorrow is over.  Actually, if November could come and go quickly that would be great as well.  Particularly if I have to watch another Al Franken bashing ad.
